What a lovely, much appreciated comment. To be honest there has been so much water under the bridge since its publication, it seems like Ray Lee placed it on the shelves an eternity ago. However, we still receive emails of commendation and questions.

To me it was greater than Bobby’s eleven world championships and all the administrative titles he held and capacities in which he served — as he had the guts to tell it like it was. So much more has happened since 2008, if I were younger and had the strength I would encourage him to write the sequel — which would be equally, if not more, compelling.

Hope one of these days soon we can catch up and take care of the autograph.

You’ve really whetted my appetite with your talk of a sequel – and since I know that (i) you are younger, and (ii) you do have the strength, please do everything in your power to encourage Bobby to write it. Just as General Douglas MacArthur said in his final address to the students at West Point “But I want you to know that when I cross the river, my last conscious thoughts will be of the Corps, and the Corps, and the Corps”, Bobby’s thoughts, as commanding general in the battle to save bridge as we love it, will be “Bridge, bridge, and bridge”.

Believe it or not, we do have enough to do a follow-up and your ears would burn. I, myself, could tell you story after story, about the sloth, ploys and wrongdoings which are a gainst the best interest of our game. Professionalism has taken a huge grip on the game and as I have said hundreds of times before, Money is in first place and Bridge is now number two.

This is not the same game I recall when I was first introduced to it in 1955. Of course, I didn’t know much about it at the time, learning it in my senior year in college. In fact, it is not even the same game I recall as I kibitzed my late husband for forty years. Suddenly, it’s all about money — not the glory of the game. I guess playing pro beats a nine to five job anytime. It’s great work if you can get it, but it has really turned the game around and introduced a lot of me/me/me and politics into motives behind certain decisions. The term Bobby always uses is ‘foxes in the henhouse.’

At this stage in the game, the thought of another book is mind-boggling. However, I will
continue to blog sharing whatever I think is of interest to the public. I always speak from the heart and my number one concern is the beauty, majesty and morality of the game.
